Today I was asked to play a game of duell by ruben87.

After I beat him in the first game, he asked for a rematch.........so I obliged him.

In the 2nd game ruben was left with a known scout and a known marshall......while I had a marshall (both flags were bombed in) I requested a draw......as per the case that my marshall will merely avoid the opposing marshall......thus a draw.
My draw request was turned down and ruben decided to shuffle his known pieces in an attempt to confuse the 2 pieces thus hopeing to swop marshalls.
This game was played with clock......and with 20 minutes on the clock(when this started) he was prepared to waste 20 minutes of my time......in an attempt to turn a draw into a win.(there was NO WAY our personal time would run out before the clock time ran out.......as i only ever had 1 piece to move)
After 5 mins I got so pissed off with this behaviour that i just let him swop the marshalls. I would much rather lose 1 game than play 20 minutes of watching him juggle his pieces.
As a consequence I will never play ruben ever again. Players who think this is a fair and just way to play are VERY SAD.
Strange as they may sound........I do actually enjoy playing all forms of Stratego. It is fun!
But having the prospect of 20 minutes of watching some dipstick rotate his pieces.......is not fun.
Players who think more of 1 win than they do about the game..........are very sad people.
Have your single (undeserved) win........it will be your first and last against me. I would much rather play with sporting players who do not try these under handed tricks.
I have had many occasions where I could do this trick........but I don't......because I have more respect for my opponents. I enjoy this game and play in a competitive but fair manner. I would not even think of wasting my opponents time with such a trick.

This is not the first time ruben has shown his unsporting behaviour. Only a couple of weeks ago.........ruben tried to get me to play our final UL game of the WC on a 15 second per move timer .(at meta) After I explained that standard timer are the norm......in the WC.......he refused to play......demanding I play by HIS rules. (in a vain attempt to beat me)
We eventually agreed I would play him on the 10 min timer at gravon. When we got here......he puts the timer on 5 mins and would not change to 10 min. I had 2 choices disqualify him......or play by HIS rules. I never mentioned his behaviour, because I kicked his a ss.......but his competitive behaviour is getting a little out of hand. In a quest for glory he does not see anything wrong in bending the rules or playing in this way. Very Sad!

At the time of his constant requests for games with me........I was waiting for a phonecall about my mrs.......who was in the hospital undergoing an opperation. This is why I have been logged on.....but hardly played. With this in mind.......I aint got the concentration or will power to piss around watching ruben rotate his pieces.

Let me just say......try that at a real life tourney......when I have the concentration and determination to watch you like a hawk. You would not get away with that at a real life tourney. Also let me add......if you tried that sh it with me in real life.......I would hope you have a good medical plan. I hate time wasters!

anyway it is bad behaviour in that game, its not the kind of way we like ace, but let him be happy with that win, you just have to think, **** him, i can play so much more games and win so much more on sportif way.

Thanks luke and ricardo!

Yes, it is much more important to play in a fair and just manner!

Sportsmanship is an important part of all sports and games.

The players who I actually play the most.......are the guys I call my friends. They are granted games (without exception) always.
Guys like luke, baffi and UK_Dagonet have played me probably 100 times each. Baffi is one of the top 3 or 4 UL players in the world........and I have lost more UL games to him than anyone else......but he always gets a game with me......because I know him to be a good friend and a honest and fair player.
To me......I would much rather play a great but close game with a friend AND LOSE.............than play a player who bores me half to death and trys to waste my time playing watch the piece going round and round in circles. Where is the fun in that? I could do it! (BUT I DON'T) You could do it..........everyone could do it...........Imagine if everyone started to do this........the game would become a joke.......a boring game......and i think i would quit. I play for the challenge of out thinking the opponent (like most players do) NOT for watching a player swirl his pieces around in circles and wasting my time.
Yes one defeat means nothing! I would much rather lose this game, publicly scorn the guy and never allow him a game with me again.........than to waste my time watching him try these tricks.

Yes luke, you warned of this earlier. You were right my friend!

And thanks for the comment about eindhoven. I think you are right there also.
Although........don't you find him very obsessive?
The guy seems to have a serious problem!

I will not read al the rubbish Ace wrote in his topic. I dont have the time .

A few points:

I learned this trick of Ricardo himself .

Very funny was that I just rotated for 1 minute and Ace forgot already where my marshall was. After all I spared more time on my clock (3 minutes) than Ace (1 minute) so I could use a bit time.

I know why Ace is angry. This ranking lover has to divide his so important #1 on the ranking list duel with 2 others.

Lets all have 1 minute silence for this tragic moment for Ace.

And I would like to say that Eindhoven is 100% right in my opinion. Dont talk but Play Ace!

If I do hate one thing, it is Liars.

Ace: ''We eventually agreed I would play him on the 10 min timer at gravon. When we got here......he puts the timer on 5 mins and would not change to 10 min.''

This is a big Lie.

The truth: we only agreed we would play on gravon, I set a 5 min clock and Ace joined without saying anything. In the game or after the game you started complaining of it.

Very Sad that you are such a Liar Ace!

I am not lying.......I said I would play you on ISF timer aka 10 min timer.

You agreed and came here and set up the 5 min timer instead of the 10 min standard ISF timer.

Why the hell would i agree to play you on a 5 min timer in UL?????

It turned the game into a farce!

With a 5 min timer......it allows no real thinking time (and U.L. is MUCH more complicated than classic.......requireing more thought)

I only joined the game.....because it was either that OR disqualify you. Why you didnt want to play with a standard timer, I do not know........maybe you thought it would give you an advantage. Everyone else's games were played on a standard default timer........but you obviously thought MORE about trying to win......than you did about playing the game in a fair way.
Fine......I joined and although pushed for time.........I still kicked your butt.
What did your persistant requests for a small timer achieve?
Only 1 thing!
That I now know how much winning means to you. Win at any costs.
Including bending the rules. If I wasn't the damn organiser of the tourney........I would have just told the organiser that you refused to play by the tourney rules.....thus you would have been disqualified. As it happens (I BENT OVER BACKWARDS TO KEEP FROM HAVING TO DISQUALIFY YOU) and put myself at a disadvantage to help you and the tourney.

ps anyone with half a brain would see this was a draw trying to win with scout and marshal vs marshal is not only pointless , childish and insane its also desperate which just about sums up someone playing for a win in that situation DESPERATE

global reading, so he read fast but don't read actually what is said,

anyway ruben newbie, i learned to rotate yes, i'm not gonna lie about that but i didn't learn you to keep a game up 20 minutes, i rotated only 3 or 4 minutes maybe 5, but when i see my opponent will not forget or what else in that time i agree with a draw and i don't keep 20 minutes rotating.

I just noticed ruben posted twice......and i only just seen the second post.......as I didnt expect him to reply to his own post a few minutes before.

LMAO!

You talk B.S. ruben!

There was 20 mins left on the "game clock"

you had around 3 mins.....while I had 1 min 55 sec.

After I took the miner i offered draw.........you refused and started to rotate.

With the prospect of spending 20 minutes watching you rotate pieces.....I thought fuk ya....you can have it. We carried on till the game clock was on 16 mins.....then i just moved my marshall up and let you take it.....because I had no intentions on waiting for you to move the pieces around long enough untill I lost concentration. I have better things to do with my time than watch some sad bast ard twirl pieces. Have the win .........stick it up your arse.....you pathetic excuse for a stratego player.

You seem to think ranking is MORE important than actually enjoying the game and having fun!
WRONG, VERY WRONG!
Ranking means nothing if you do not enjoy playing. If I did not enjoy playing........then I would not play.
Unlike you......with your win at any costs attitude.

Well it will hurt you more than it hurts me. I could not care less at "NOT having to play some average player like you".
You have just been blacklisted by the #1 barrage/duell/UL/rps player on both sites (+one of the top classic players on both sites).

I will continue to play in a fair and just manner and avoid ars oles like you. Players willing to do the kind of things you are prepared to do, will not find a game with me.

to ricardo: promoting this tactic will lead to other players following your lead. The scenario is ever lasting.......if you do this.....and the guy guess's right......you could merely retreat the piece and rotate again.....then carry on forever.........it is a never ending situation until the player rotating the pieces decides to agree to draw.
