It seems to me that saying good game after a game played was sufficient to say. That is not the case here in my balloon cup game against Darkman. Now I don't know anyone here personally that I feel obliged to say "oh have a nice day" and "I hope we can play again my good ol dear friend". NO, gg such be ok to say after a game has been played. After my game with Darkman I said gg and left the table. Now I had won the game and this probably influenced his statement after the game. Darkman said "Oh you could have said cu or goodbye after the game". Is this touchy or what!? Now I'm sure if he had won this game he could have cared less if I said bye bye or cu. Come on get real. Plenty of times I have played games and lost and my opponent has said gg and left the table, which I have no problem with. Tell me your opinion on this matter fellow gamers.
If you want that kind of etiquette I suggest you expect it from your fellow real life peers and family and not from someone that you have never seen before on the internet _________________ The American no longer down under.

ok you asked so i'll tell you anyone who finishes a game and types gg then leaves before opponent can even respond is clearly stuck up thier own butt , surely waiting 10,20,30 seconds isnt going to cut short there life existance now is it i mean come on its basic manners and weather its online or in public same manners should apply , i myself only say GG if it was a good game if not ill say well played or something along those lines but in the end if players are to damn lazy to type more than 2 letter (ahhhhhhhh those poor fingers must really be hurting) then good for them but in my opinion its plain rude so in smmary if you cant be bothered to say anymore than 2 poxy letters i suggest you don't bother asking me for a game , i mean asking for game would take more time than gg and heaven for bid i wouldnt want someone having a heart attack having to type so much as maybe 5 words
am i being sarcastic yes but so what im english its my job if you dont like my opinion oh well tough go read a comic book instead |

I think typing "gg" is more than sufficient Spy, don't fret over it. |

"gg" is something I often got when I first started playing and really -. Once I got better and lost some better played games my opponent would stick around and be more curious about what I was thinking at different points in the game.....so I could see how someone might be offended by your "gg", just as I could see why you simply typed "gg" as a common courtesy to someone of lesser ability. Question is: "Was it a close game or not?"
Of course, on many internet message boards "gg" means someone is laughing at something you said or did, so maybe some signals got crossed.
And then it's also possible that your opponent was from down south U.S.A. and "good game" might mean that 9 point buck he shot and killed and fed the family for a few weeks......or in my case the racoon someone hit with their car and I picked up and brought home and turned into special bredded "llimoinc nuggets" to be eaten while watching the WWE or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. |

Hi spy!
i guess the problem was something very different:
GG stands for "good game", all players used to play on pure english websites know that.
But german players who do not speak english so well might think that "GG" does mean "*gg*" which expresses some kind of laughing, so he may have thought that you were laughing at him because he lost...
So perhaps it would be better to type "Good game" instead of "GG" if you don't know your opponent
Best regards

Well, You all know I like to Chat when Playin, before and after a game and really I like to post game chat, and GG does not really do much, but with my pesky time difference, most of my games are either very late US Est or Early European time frames, and at those times "GG" is good enough..
Either Way we all talk when we have time, or simply just in the mood..
Cheers Jerry. |

i beleive it is good etiquette(sportmanship) to respond in some way to a message,be it gg, or anything else.i also beleive you should respond to a message even before you play a game, even when you first come on-line,as i have experienced some individuals not responding to messages in general chat box,i won't give names, but there have been some recently.if you don't want to play someone just say so, don't ignore them then go in and play a game with someone else.that is rude also.we all just want to compete and have fun here. |
