Yes, ruben..................be fearful of losing an internet game and god forbid, some valuable points! LMAO! Darth, have you considered taking testosterone injections? Ruben, I think you should stay just as you are, a competitive player who is not intimidated by anybody. It is pathetic to be in a state of apprehension due to an entertaining yet meaningless game like stratego. This game should never be taken so seriously. Points, rankings, who gives a sh*t? Sure it is fun and the rankings provide a small stake in the name of competition, but it is just for fun and to see grown men intimidated and so mindful of it, is pathetic. Am I going to have to offer hormone injections as well as shock therapy?

The reason that this incident with Brass happened is because Brass gave the game too much importance. In reality, his actions were a result of the same thing that has inflicted you, Darth; overinflating the importance of the game.

dear fellows,

the point is, darth is totally right with his opinion, but also sadistic is absolutely right by playing everybody at any time.
there are many players who care about their rating (at least a little bit). also i think it's not wrong to be kind of ambitious in this game.
like darth mentioned it makes no sense to play rated games after a long time of abstinence. not everybody is so talented like you, dear sadistic, to play games with the bird flu or 2 blond ladies on the lap.

Actually, skywalker, I prefer natural latinas over the run of the mill, artificial blondes that the rest of the USA has an obsession with. Please keep this in mind for future reference.
Also, keep in mind that I lose to everybody at one time or another. I don't enjoy it but as long as I keep playing, I will get my revenge! It is not very important in the grand scheme of things, is it?

well I do like rankings and statistics And my Target is getting higher on gravon ranking. However, it is not very important to me.

Maybe in 2007 I compete for a high ranking

I look to win 1 out of 4, and when it's 1 out of 5 my rating suffers.
Sometimes I quit early rather than play out a game in the chance of winning, but if it is doubtful why bother. However if I want to learn about players defensive style or moves then I should stick out the game and learn a bit.
I went through a month of avoiding ranked games, but it did not do me any good upon return. Upon return after the trebich win after beating Warhero twice and another player, my rating was at 1275. After playing friendly games with unbiasbob and edfx, rated, I jumped back into the rating games and just figured to hell with it and now I sit at 1230.

But with a win over an 1805 ranked player today, you'd think I would have so much more confidence. But I don't. The opponent was out of sync, but I'll take the points anyhow. I think beating gpet0, esquire, and Sadistic in the same week would help me maintain the "upset" player award. But I'd trade in those 3 victories if I could just play better consistently and not have to rely on opponent mistakes as in the meiko, and DarthRemark games. I seem to only win when I trick an opponent into thinking my last remaining hi piece is somewhere else on the table and his swatting of my high ranking piece with his next lowest evens the table significantly.
Out.

Being competitive is a quality, not a fault. True, this is just a silly game, and getting too uptight about it is really silly in context, but part of the fun here is the competition, and if you don’t care about what you are competing for then what is the point?

What is pathetic is that a person would insult and belittle people that he hardly knows.

Had ridiculous endless chase 2day from EchirlierTex (or whatever the hell he's called). Spion or Stratego can you please look at the game and see what went down so it can be re-moved. I had a piece of his trapped so he endless chased a piece of mine - I did think the Gravon software didn't allow this to happen but unfortunately it did. I only ended up breaking the sequence because bronstien was on and his messing around ran down the game clock - I wasn't prepared to draw to a cheat so brought up a piece I would never had to have in a face to face.

Thanks Dagonet

I'm a bit disappointed at no reply/action - if this game is allowed to stand it makes a mockery of the game we all love to play. Please can it be reviewed by an admin.

Thanks

hello,

i posted it earlier - if you want to check any game situations, please feel
free to ask. we can use the free setup with open pieces to create any situation and check if it goes by the rules.

beside that, stratego knows some draw situations - this is important and its not the goal of the rules to prevent all of those situations.

but lets discuss this at the board. we can meet and discuss during the game.

Thank you for your reply Stratego - I will be happy to re-create the situation with you when I'm next on playing.

Regards

Dagonet

hi uk_dagonet,

i checked the game for any rules violation, but all is ok.
you had a double 2 square rule - but because one was without attacking, it
doesnt change into more-square rule. this could be played for years but
fits with all isf board rules.
in the end it was easy for you to change the situation in a positiv way, but
you made one big mistake. this is why you lost a normaly won game.
same decision by any arbiter at board tourneys - sorry but thats the result
of a deep analyse.
if you have any questions about this feel free to ask. we can discuss it
again with free setup and open pieces.
if any other player has same or equal questions about draw situations or any other rule, please ask.

Thank you for your reply & replaying the incident Stratego. If what happened is within the rules then of course I stand by your decision.

I must express surprise though, the piece was fairly trapped & to all intensive purposes killed and so an endless chase persisted elsewhere.

I acknowledge the grey area is whether: what he was doing is considered attacking. If (as I now understand it is) attacking is defined ONLY as two pieces being next to each other, then fair enough.

I will try and replay the situation with other top active players, because I do believe the rules need looking at. The moves he made (if I were to have left my piece where it was) would have lead to a certain loss (and if that is not being under attack I don't know what is!!)

Anyway, thank you again for your time, expect Dagonet to rise up the rankings now he has another 'trick' to his arsenal!!

hi uk_dagonet,

the situations during game were different to our replay.
during real game you could find better moves for a sure win.
maybe its the best to ask ehrlicher tex for the download.
if he agrees (we need a mail from him) we can send you and tex the
game for a replay with strados2 - then you see what happend and can
analyse the game.
