What's with the bronstein clock? I was playing erlichertex and was way up. He was down to his last three peices and the game was OVER, the clock runs out and I lose! What the #$$% is with that? What IS the bronstein clock anyway? Dammit I need to watch if that screwed up thing is on. Worthless. What the hell IS the effing bronstein clock that it can give the winner a loss? |

Like um, since you took longer to make decisions, you had earned an advantage over your oppoenent who was making quicker yet hasty decisions, so in essence your advantage had its price to pay in the form of seconds lost hence kissing the game goodbye.
Just kidding I know you're better than this guy, so if spion could throw in some quick javascript to make a little clock appear next to the join button as a reminder its timed, then before you hit done, you can change your mind and escape.
Something like "onmouseover join button;clockimage=on;"
yea whatever. |

If you just watched the clock you would win blue. Next time watch it and dont accept a clock challenge if you dont like it.
I dont like the 5 minute clock its to quick for me. |

You have been playing here all this time and still haven't been victimized by bronstein until today? I had the same experience within the first few weeks that I joined. Live and learn. I actually like the 10 minute bronstein. It disallows stallers to make you wait 15 minutes for each turn, although I have seen much less of this in recent times due to attentive moderators and management here. |

Actually I had been victimized once before, but it had been awhile and I forgot. I do need to pay attention before I join a game. Hell I don't even notice if it's classic or not. As for arty's observation, yeah art, you know me, Mr slow mover! Lol! Yeah right.
I still don't understand how the clock can turn the clear victor into the vanquished. It's pretty lame! What the hell, I'll just stay away from ehrilichertex or anyone else that may or may not have the clock on. It was pretty funny actually, he didn't even offer a "thanks for the game," he just scooted outta there with his ill gotten gains without so much as a "thanks for letting me screw you!" Lol! |

The first time it got me, I was up 5 power pieces and did not understand why my opponent did not forfeit. All of a sudden, I was a victim of the bronstein boom! It is not a good feeling. |

Yeah ErlicherTex is one of the few guys round here that actually plays the shortest bronstien clock of all - the only other player I have seen use the 5 minute bronstein clock (in a ranked game) is Brass. I avoid the 5 minute clock like the plague personally. I am though a massive fan of bronstein in general, having been on the wrong end of some idiot trying to trap my scout with 3 pieces and not being prepared to draw - After an hour I had to leave - and so hit an unmoved piece with my 9 getting a loss. |

i like the clock. i also like it in ranked games because it's normally my advantage in close games. but 2 weeks ago it got me really bad. i played unbiasbob with the 5 minutes clock. he was behind in the endgame but i didn't pay attention and lost all of a sudden. i was really pissed.
but to avoid exhausting 1hour-games the clock is a nice idea. _________________ "All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you" Mithrandir |

I loathe the 5 minute clock for sure dudes. I think I hold the record for getting burned by it. When losing a game I should have won to edfx, all he can say is LOL. I mean like you dudes know the guy |
