Give UL ( Ultimate Lightning ) a chance !!!

hello all classic stratego players,

with this post i wanna make UL more popular.
there are so many good classic players on gravon, but less UL gamer
sometimes on gravon are more then 20 ranked classic players but nobody wanna play UL
i can't understand that...

but i guess i know the reasons:

1. i miss the rules on the gravon page
so... silver or spion or someone else of the admins: please put the rules on the gravonpage ( in german and in english ) so that all players have the chance to learn UL
( because i know there are a few players who wanna learn it )

2. because nobody knows the rules nobody knows how strategic and thrilling UL can be
( UL has nothing to do with luck or something else )

so i appeal to all classic players :
learn it
try it
and you will love it

... and then i hope we will break the domination of ace and all other ul pro's

Well, as a Vetran Classic Player here Skywalker, UL has allways been a shortened version of classic, and I believe it was a cheap short cut made by the Hasbro CD version of Stratego Classic.

I,m sure a fellow Gravonian passionate with UL, can provide you with the rules page, Cosmo is one player very on line with this version, he comes and goes, maybe PM him for some assistance.

I,m happy you enjoy UL, and I,m sure you will find a few players around to have some fun.

Your right about the strategic qualities of the U.L. game, i think it is more strategic than classic. But if you enjoy strategy games, then you will enjoy U.L.

Keep up the good work promoting U.L.!

And hopefully even more will come to enjoy the U.L. game. (as we do)

other stratego games seriously.....

There seems to be a misconception that UL was created by Hasbro for the Startego CD. It was actually created by Winning moves. The Hasbro CD is copyright 1998 while the Winning Moves Ultimate Stratego is copyright 1997.

hi all,

in the last days few people asking for the ul rules
i found agresor's ( i hope he agreed that i put it here again)
with ace's corrections


ULTIMATE LIGHTNING
The Ultimate Lightning version of Stratego is similar to Stratego Classic but is faster to play due to the use of fewer units(20).
A new game feature called Rescue has also been added to gameplay.

WINNING THE GAME
The first player to attack an opponent's Flag captures it and wins the game. If you cannot move or attack on your turn, you lose the game.

RESCUE
Twice per game, you can rescue one of your previously defeated units.
When you move any of your units onto a square in your enemies back row, you may regain one of your defeated units.
Once in the back row, immediately select and place your rescued unit in any unoccupied space on your half of the battlefield. Each piece can
only perform a rescue once in any game.

MOVEMENT AND BATTLES
Units move and attack one square at a time, forward, backward or sideways.
!!! If a battle was fought between two pieces of the SAME RANK, then the ATTACKING piece would win. !!!

CAPTAINS
Captains can move two spaces per turn, either in a straight line, or by changing direction after the first space moved.

SCOUTS
Scouts have the same attributes as they do in Stratego Classic, but now feature the Miner skill of having the ability to defeat Bombs.
Miner has not more this function to defeat bombs.
Scouts cannot rescue other units.

Its very nice that skywalker post rules again.UL is a good game like skywalker said has nothing to do with lotto!It is very logicaly and I very like it!

But ace and sky any time when I come nobody wants to play me!
It semms that only I generalMax,riskytom,Agresor,kentinator,Hermes,DelBoy are players who play Ul any time!

And please dont speak so much about Cosmo I havent seen him playing about two years!

here are the rules of UL in spanish:

ULTIMATE LIGHTNING

Las reglas son idénticas a las del juego clásico del stratego salvo por las siguientes diferencias:

- Sólo hay 20 piezas.
- Cuando una pieza ataca a otra de igual rango, la pieza atacada es eliminada del tablero.
- Si una pieza distinta al explorador llega a la primera fila de su rival, puede rescatar a una pieza eliminada (situandola en una casilla vacía de las 4 filas de su lado del tablero), o bien elegir no rescatar en ese turno y por tanto debe abandonar la fila y volver a entrar en ella para poder rescatar en el futuro. Una pieza sólo puede realizar un rescate. Sólo se pueden hacer 2 rescates en toda la partida.
- Los capitanes pueden mover 2 casillas por turno o en línea recta o cambiando de dirección después de la primera casilla.
- Los exploradores son también mineros.
- No hay mineros, en vez de esto hay una pieza con rango mayor al explorador y menor al sargento.
- Las bombas se eliminan del tablero al explotar.
