I,m not one for makeing sense in post's over the years, As most would have a little shuckle over this..
As most of the Stratego Players I have played against over the Years, all know that I have had One name and One Account with the club, I have never seen a reason to Diverse with another nic to gain a advantage, ladder rank or what ever.
I do wonder though, how many players would pay beyound a free membership if the site became un-free?
I,m pondering, say for Meta for instance yu can join for a membership for $20.00, and if yu have the dollars yu can have many names with membership.
My Question is. Will Gravon Benefit from a Paid Membership? and yr comments here would be appreciatted.
Cheers Jerry. |

i'm sure gravon would benefit from a paid membership ($), but the real question is "would the players benefit from a paid membership?"
and i'm sure i speak for everyone when i say "no." part of the greatness of this site is that its free for worldwide public use. other control mechanisms (either software or human intervention) could be installed to prevent certain problems. "if you have the dollars you can have many names"--if this is the case what good does a membership do for the site (if your post is about maintaining 1 identity per player)?
to keep people from having even 2 identities, gravon would have to set a high price floor, probably more than $20--point is there would still be a potential problem with multiple identities. the real solution resides in registration prevention--1 identity per IP address, or such. |

...
This is a difficult situation as we all know.
1 IP adres = 1 Nick
Big disadvantage: A father son (even on 2 PC's) can not be registered both. So its possible that 2 players (father and son) are using both ONE nick.
1 IP adres = More nicks
Big disadvantage: Player A can log in under nick X, nick Y or nick Z
And nobody is knowing whom them are playing.
Asking money to register isn't a good option IMHO because then we will see more of example 1 (1 IP = 1 nick)
A possible solution can be is that players must have installed a webcam So the opponent can verify by the looks of the face who he is dealing with.
But not all users have a webcam, and I don't know howmuch bandwith this is going to take. And lots of players like to live anonymiously. [is this correct English?? ]
I personally think there are lots and lots of doubles on the Ranking AND there are very much players who are playing unranked games, under other names as their registered nick, to 'learn' the style of a high ranked player. So they can beat him later as he/her is not aware that he is playing the same person as yesterday.....
But hoe to stop this... I don't know.
Or maybe is it an idea that it doesn't have to be stopped: If you play unranked, you automatickly take a 'risk' ?
Any comments?
