Gravon U.L. Tournament 2008

The International Ultimate Lightning Association would like to invite All U.L. players to join in the annual Gravon Open UL Tournament. This is the second year for this event and it is hoped it will become a regular tournament. All games played in this tournament will count towards the "Official World Rankings". This tournament will also count towards the IULA World Tour competition.

This tournament will be a knock out tournament and will work like a tennis tournament.
If you lose your match, you are out of the tournament.

A match is played in a "best of 3" games.
If after 3 games, the two opponents are still tied, an additional game must be played.
If it's still a draw, an additional game is played, and so one until somebody wins (so the first one to win an additional game is qualified ; the other player is out).

There will be seeded players, to avoid two top players having to play against each other too soon in the tournament.
The array of the competition will be drawn on the 9th of June 2008.
So you'll be able to see all the possible matches till the final, once the draw is published.

To establish the order of the seeded players, the IULA has decided to use the following rankings, by priority :
1. Offical World U.L. Ranking.
2. Gravon UL ranking, as displayed on the 9th of June 2008.
3. Metaforge UL ranking, as displayed on the 9th of June 2008.

To join in this Cup, you have until the 9th of June, by posting a message in this thread or by contacting me in the games room.

As in 2007 there will be an additional tournament which combines all 5 major open tournaments. In additional to the "Official World Rankings", there will be a chance to participate in the IULA World Tour. Every player would receive points if they finished in the qualifying places in each tournament. The overall point leader at the end of the year, will become the IULA World Tour Champion.

Also, the IULA would like to announce that this tournament will attribute points for the IULA Tour, as followed :
1st : 10 points,
2nd : 7 points,
3rd : 5 points,
4th : 3 points,
5-8th : 1 point.

For the other 4 tournaments this year, the attributed points will be :

Meta U.L. Championships :
1st : 10 points,
2nd : 7 points,
3rd : 5 points,
4th : 3 points,
5-8th : 1 point.

"European" and "Rest of the World" Championships :
1st : 10 points,
2nd : 7 points,
3rd : 5 points,
4th : 3 points.
Winner of each pool, not finishing in the top 4 : 1 point.

World Championship :
1st : 20 points,
2nd : 16 points,
3rd : 13 points,
4th : 10 points,
5th : 7 points
6th : 4 points.

The I.U.L.A. World Tour rankings will be posted on :
http://www.ultimatelightning.org
and updated (along with the world rankings) after each competition.

I am happy to confirm that "Steve" (runner-up in this tournament last year & European champion in 2006) has joined the tourney.

Looks like it will be a first class tourney.

Hopefully we will match or even better the 16 participants we had last year.

NC........Maybe you can give Startego999 full registration so the games in the European Championships (in the Autumn) could be ranked on Gravon.
