European Championship & USA Championship :the sign up

It seems only a short time ago since we played, but it's actually been a full year.

The time has come around again for the European U.L. Championships and the USA U.L. Championships.

Both tournaments will start on Monday the 1st day of October 2007.

Further tournament details will appear here over the weekend.

Anyone wishing to participate in these tournaments can enter by registering on this thread.

(If there is enough interest.......then we may run a "Rest of the World" tournament)......which would gain the winner a chance to play in the World Championships in November.

Top 3 places in the European & USA Championships gain automatic entry into the World Championships.

Championship Rules


General Rules:


Sportsmanship:
The International Ultimate Lightning Association prides it self upon its reputation for fairness and sportsmanship.
With this in mind, we fully expect all entrants to comply fully with the rules and sporting standards set out and adopted by the I.U.L.A.
Please read the I.U.L.A. codes of conduct before entering.
Entry into this tournament constitutes acceptance of these rules.

Site rules:
All site rules will be followed at each site.
Only a formal request to the I.U.L.A. committee can overturn any disconnect problems occurred at site. Without a formal request, then the rules and decisions of the relevant sites moderators/admin will be upheld. The decision of the I.U.L.A. executive committee is final. Apart from disconnects, the rules of each site must be adhered to without question.

Seedings:
All seedings will be done on September 30, 2007.
Seedings will be done using the “Official World Rankings”. Any player who does not have a ranking will be ranked per their site ranking. Seedings will be done in the same way that tennis competitions are seeded.

Format of the Championships:
We will be using the same format for the Championships as we used in 2006.
The European Championships and the USA National Championships will be using a group format which will be seeded. 6 players will advance from the group stage into the finals of these competitions. Reduced to 4 player finals due to the low entry level this year.(although this will be raised to 5 players if 12 or more players enter before the late entry deadline of 03/10/07.)
The finalists will then battle it out and play ALL the other players in the finals.
(The format of the World Championships stays the same with the top 6 players playing a league format.) Reduced to 5 players due to numbers (2 players from the European tournament and 2 from the USA tournament.....plus a wildcard playoff between the 3rd place players in each tournament.

How many games?
Both the European and USA Nationals will be playing a “best of 3” with each player.
(The World Championships will again be a compulsory 3 game match)

Non played games:
Any games which are not played in the specified time allotment will be judged and awarded to the player showing the biggest “will to play”. All decisions made by the tournament organizers are final.
At the organizers discretion a small time extension may be granted, but this is ONLY at the discretion of the organizers.
If a small time extension is granted to any original specified time, then NO further extensions could be granted to the extension


World Rankings:
All games played count towards the Official World Rankings.
Void, forfeited and unplayed games, will not count towards the World Rankings.


The World Championships:
The World Championships will be open to the top 3 players from BOTH the European Championships and the USA Nationals.






Game Settings:


Time:
The time settings for all games shall be:

On Gravon:
(12minute timer or no timer at all)
If one player wants a timer then both players must play with the 12 minute timer.
If both players agree to no timer, then that is acceptable.

On Metaforge:
(60 second timer)


Red or Blue:
The choice of colour shall be decided in this way:

The player with the highest ranking (Official World Ranking) will play Red in the first game.
This player would then play Blue in the second game.
All subsequent games shall be played by alternating from Red to Blue or from Blue to Red.



Viewing:
All games can be played with or without viewing.
If both players disagree about the viewing option, then the game must be played with viewing OFF.

Ranking option:
Championship games can be played as either ranked site games or as unranked site games.
If both players disagree about the ranking option, then the game must be played as an Unranked game.

Other options:
(for Metaforge only)
No other options other than the standard options used in U.L. will be permitted.
Any games played without aggression, rescue, range and one time bombs……will be null and void………and would need to be replayed.
Playing with any other option which may change the course of a “default” game will also make the said game null and void.

Which site is the default venue for each Championship?
For the European Championships the default venue is Gravon.
For the USA National Championships the default venue is Metaforge.

Games from either Championship can be played at either site, but if there is a conflict between 2 players about the venue……..then the default venue will be where you will have to play the game.
