Are those the final results or does the tournament carry on tomorrow.....and those are just the leaders?
I assume they are the final results!
If they are......then congrats to Vincent !
And of course also congrats to "endever" (who seems to have improved alot this year)

yeah mate, final results.
I spoke to Anthony M over there and played him twice (off tournament)
And met Zach21 there! He came over from the USA. That is what I call motivated.

for sure this was a top level tourney again. if you organize and make the head arbiter, you see a lot of details. some really good moves, fantastic bluffs, perfect attacking or a defence with wins the game.
also you see some very cool or absolut nervous during the game.
some funny situations, players who played their best games ever, (like endever)
and other top players who have 2 bad days, because you have always the
wrong piece at the wrong square.
during the tourney its a up and down for most of the players and the
atmosphere lives from the stories in the break, why they lost or how they win.
it was a very close wc and 4 players still could get the titel till the end.
lion makes it, because of better buchholz points, but with same result like
endever.
lion also mentioned in the traditional (world champ) speech, that this was
the first time, that someone gets the titel with 2 losses.
maybe this shows, what a player feels, if every move counts within the 2 days.
beside nearly all players play very fair. also, because of the 65 mins game time, a draw was a real draw.
maybe zach21 can post some impressions, it was his first tourney and he
did very well. also he is used to the american pieces and must get used
to the europian one. at sunday he was 3rd at the antwerp open tourney.
(dcannis won and lightwing was 2nd)
at same time the dutch players gets gold for team.
(team are the best 4 players from one country - taken from the final wc results - germany got silver)
some pictures will follow, so all who didnt join can take a look.

Thanks for the confirmation Luc
Maybe we will get the chance to play over the board at next years tournament!
Nice to see Anthony and zach at these tournaments.
I was rooting for anthony of course. He is the sole British representative once again. I know he is much better than his finishing position!
Could Britain have a team of 4 players enter the team tourney or is it just a Dutch v Germany tournament?
If it is open to all countries......then what happened to the Belgium team? Surely Belgium had 4 players?
Thanks also to Stratego for additional information about the tournament.
Do we have a list of the placings yet?
Cheers,
Ace |

every country which shows up with 4 players in time can join the team
championchip.
its a pitty that no belgium team plays at sunday, but they never did.
(they also leave the tourney during the prize ceremony - i will never understand this)
a complete list with a hole crosstable follows soon. also informations
about the antwerp open championchip and the team cup.

Great, exciting (even the last round) and pleasant tourney it was!
44 players participated.
Very good and unexpected of Vincent (Lion) to win the tourney again!
Endever had his best tourney ever, He improves like a rocket this year!
Erik van de Berg keeps winning prices. He had a great comeback during the tournament. |
