opinion of an outsider

hi everybody,

even if i stopped playing stratego i step by from time to time to read through the forum. i really enjoyed, for example, the post about ww2.
to my pleasure i saw bob and giovedi (and of course sadi) being very active here and i found the good relationship between ace and sadi quite joyful.
what i realized about the last weeks (or better month) is the thing about ruben and eindi.
i tried to find a post without any sensless comments from both of them. not to mention the constant attacks on ace, giovedi & co.
i know it's hard for the admins to distinguish between serious attacks and post written about a player to amuse everybody. in addition, it's always a matter of opinion.
what i just want to say is how is it possible to get rid of the annoying "mood" in here without having a dead forum afterwards.
i'm registered in quite a few other communities and never experienced what happens here over and over again.
you all should ask yourself if it's the fault of the admins rather than the behavior (or should i say misbehavior) of the players.

p.s. hey ace, i would love to join the ul tournament but i'm afraid i'm too rusty to play (the other thing i won't be able to play till may 6th)

thx for the statement and i double your posting.

the last weeks show a lot of (more or less) insultings. also we dont have any
of these problems here at other forums. are the stratego players
people with zero tolerance? i think (hope) not.

watching other forums you always find one or two troublemaker and
this is normal. but in the moment it seems that everyone fights everyone here - with no reason.
one doesnt play enough - one doesnt play ranked games - etc etc.
even the delboy - rubin threat rise again - all was said, you can have different point of views, but at least it was by the rules.
why start a discussion again? if some would give the rematch - fine!
if not - also fine. accept this, but dont talk about the person.
there is no right or wrong.

the biggest problem is, that some user think they are always right. they dont accept any other point of view and even worse, they blame others for
different opinions.

i know a lot of players in person - all nice guys and if i meet them at board always good matches.
but behind the monitor...
maybe we all should try to show some more tolerance. the mods here have one task - going by the rules to quarantee a fair communication.
different meanings ok, but please in a fair way.

but if an user cannot go by the rules they are not able to join the community.
then its better to stop him. (yesterday we had to bann another user for
using nazi speech - forum and playing) and all because one doesnt want
to play a person. this is so senceless, takes a lot of time and its useless for all.

gravon takes a lot of work, is free for all and i think the best stratego side.
its made for having fun - not for fighting.

I agree with you totally.

I will try make more positive postings and not always reply to insults etc.

I would like to suggest: Lets go all with a clean sheet! Give everyone a second chance!

Firstly....... I think it would be great if all the petty squabbling would stop.

Whether that is achievable......is another matter......let's hope so!

On a more serious note.................GREAT seeing you back here luke!!!!!

It would be great to have you in the tournament and playing UL again!

Maybe you could get a little practice in......and enter the tourney?
The first round will be 1 match and you will have from the 1st to 8th.....to play it........so you could still enter.
We are working on roughly 1 week per round and a total of 4 weeks for the completion of the tourney.

If you need any practice against good opposition.....just let me know and I will arrange to play you a few games, when you have a little spare time.

A nice and enjoyable post, Luke.

I second your opionion and I like to add that you're not only missed on the "battlefield" but also on the forum.
The mood here is imho quite easy to explain.
We've got very different attitudes and opionions coming from apparently very different mentalities and age groups here which you can (most of the time) split into two very opposite sections.

As mentioned before, this only stands out because only a few members/players are posting here and I don't know how to attract more people to the forum,
but perhaps the mods can come up with an idea?!?

I have an idea Gio. Bring Sadistic back sooner rather than later. His creative writing is an enormous stimulant to this forum. I don't think any of us are worthy, but we try. Certainly having a guy like Luke back would be a step in the right direction also but bringing Sadistic back should be priority #1. I am enthralled that we are able to get his quality writings free of charge, everyone else should be as well.

Bob, I'm afraid you did not understand my post.

I reckon everybody here has already noticed that you find Sadistics postings absolutely divine and by making statements like this you're on a good way becoming the first official member of Sadistics-fan-club, but that's not the point.

My original intention was that by attracting "new" people with different attitudes to the forum things here could improve.

To only have the common suspects around sooner or later there'll be another clash....or did you see edfx last (and very personal) statement aimed at you as an improvement?

It sounds to me that the mention of Sadi's name really gets to you. You appear quite envious and angry. Sadi has said many times that some men become envious of him then lash out and finally develop a strange and grotesque attraction toward him. You might want to seek some help with this issue before it blooms, if it is not already too late.

bob: I really don't think giovedi is having a go at you.
Neither do i feel he is taking anything away from sadi's posts.

His point is a good one........we could do with some fresh posters on here.

Sadi is obviously very talented at writing........BUT it would be nice to have some more people on here!

There are maybe 10 (AT MOST) regular ish posters on gravon. We never here anyone else..........it would be nice to hear a wider variety of views......thus gaining a larger audience for the best posts.

Sure, no question that new posters + Sad back would be great for this forum. As for my appreciation for Sadistic's postings; they are entertaining and they bring out the spirit of the game. I thoroughly enjoy them and suspect that others do as well. As for Ace's comments, let's get a recruiting drive going for more forumers and players.

Oh and a word about the Sadi Fan Club.
