Wow, this alias guessing game is pretty fun.
I just got smoked today by a guy who logged on and eagerly challenged me. I had never seen him before but he was anxious to play me. He burned me with a particularly tricky set that seemed strangely familiar because in 5 years of play I have seen the particular gimic that this set employed maybe half a dozen times. I didn't think about it until in the shower just now but it if I'm not mistaken the rest of the set was exactly (and I do mean exactly) like one I faced in a memorable game against an old Zone shark. I'm wondering if my old friend has returned? His name was Polarbear1999 on the Zone, but I know that he often used aliases at other sites.
Evidence for:
1) Identical set.
2) Strong understanding of the game, albeit not razor sharp execution. He might be rusty.
3) Similar nic motif.
4) Rank chart says he is German, but he speaks great english (Bear was from Columbus, OH).
Evidence against:
1) Bear would be in the top 20 if not the top 10 here if he were playing seriously (but he might not be anymore).
2) There are only so many combinations for these pieces. It's possible someone else produced an identical set.
Now, normally I wouldn't think anything of it, but that set... it is just too incredible that it would be duplicated to the jot and tittle. Jerry/Stratego, any way to verify that this guy is actually from Germany?
I'm not accusing anyone of wrongdoing. I just want to know because I miss my old friend. |

sadistic:
there is always an insulting shining through.
even if you dont post it in a direct way, i am tired of your senseless and
provocative messages.
you are very near to opening your own forum.

hi darth,
noone will ever tell you anything about players. if other guess what might
be right, its a different story. but asking spion, silver, jerry or me will
never bring light in players private things.
but in this case you have luck - i know iceman from playing, so i can tell
you he is german, without using any admins things.
by the way, i lost some games against my own setups. its strange how
the infos go around. also i had a game against the special saad setup,
-think you know which i mean- with a german player. to bad for him,
that i knew it - easy win.
greetings

Thanks Stratego. Yes, that may explain it. We've all lifted cool setups from opponents at times. It would be great if Bear were back. It was always great fun to play him. |

Right on Stratego, Only played this dude once, and won, is German, what else do I get to pick from with my pesky time difference. I think Bear,Pale,Hal & Dave are fine players, being just a memory now Darth.
All though a Player who yu mentioned with Many names in a recent Post, is still around, trying to fool everyone with his double allias playin, now that we are near to making this guy/girl one, Cheating will not be a option, even if yu care about ranking or not.
Jerry. |

Stratego, what is the problem? That post was not at all insulting. If anything it was supportive of Darth Remark. Maybe you did not expect that from me and you lost the meaning. The post was clearly humorous. How could you possibly misunderstand that? |

only one sentence out of a senseless and provocating mail...
"You want to ring this little ice worm's neck, the son of a bitchin' sneak!........................"
you know the rest and i am not willing to discuss the rules with you.
go by the rules or open your own forum. after a second chance isnt
a third one.

Perhaps if you were American it would be obvious to you that this statement was made completely in humor. It was not at all insulting or offensive. It might be a good idea for you to ask an American before you yank off posts. The post was a humorous post intended to tell Darth Remark that he is hiding his true feelings and that in reality he was angry about being ambushed by an obvious alias. It brought humor to the situation, while still making a point.
One thing euros could learn from the USA is that there are reasons why we are a dominant country. Despite some problems that we have, we allow our people to be free and to grow. We don't shut people down. We are open minded to change. We are now dominating the world economically, militarily and our people have a substantially higher standard of living. There are some things the rest of you could learn from us if you would be a bit more tolerant and open minded. Rather than insult us and demean our value, you should be observing us and trying to figure out why we are so successful. |

hello i just want to tell you that i am not the mysterious polarbear! I m Iceman,a german teenager who is thinking about setups who can be useless for my games! I didn t copy setups i make my own setups and i think that it s possible that setups from different players can be identical in a way! Greetings Iceman |

We are far more superior to other countries. It's just the way it is.
