Gravon players are cowards when it comes to trying something new. This is not meant to be an insult but I must say I've spent an hour in the gameroom and have not had anyone play me in UL. Why is this? Could it be that I'm too good and they'll lose therefore shattering the frail ego of the gravon player? Please let me know.

Hi, GM.
Being one of the cowards that entered your lil room (about 30 mins ago) & left it, the moment I realised "Urgh, UL", i feel like answering your question. It's not that I'm afraid of your capabilities in this "UL"-thingie, it's just I simply don't care for anything else than "regular" Stratego. "UL" (whatever this may be) appears to be minority-stuff, so if you like to play it, I guess you'll have to adapt to the thought of waiting an hour or so for an opponent. Does that answer your question?

Thank you for confirming what I already knew any gravon player would answer. However, don't you think that for all the time you spend on classic to make ummm let's say rank 100, you can better spend that time on actually attaining something worthwhile? You have a better shot making the top ten at UL than classic. I guess if your preference is classic so be it.

Good psychology - why don't you just call our mothers a bad name? The problem is, in my opinion, UL is not very fun and there is a much greater element of luck involved than in classic. The rescue rule also should be removed, that might help. One last thing, - doesn't look too mean to me, just kinda crusty, but not bad for a dude over 2500 years old.

and to be 177th in the classic ranking is better than to be 1th in the UL ranking..

Now why is UL stupid?? You people say it's stupid but offer no reasons to back up your claim. Since you gave no reasons I will put words in your mouth. You are either too lazy to learn the rules or too dumb. Sorry no offense intended but if this is truly a gamer's paradise you guys should be GOOD at learning games. UL has the same objective as classic only different rules. Guys I totally understand...you shouldn't have played me when you played your first game of UL. Most people I play get thrashed and they get discouraged. Maybe I should have lost a couple of games on purpose. I guess it's my fault. Well that's all I have to say, I tried to recruit players. Oh wait a minute there's one more thing to be said.....

I never said UL was stupid, I said to me it's not very fun. It's frustrating to me to work hard to capture an opponent's marshal , lets say, only to have him " rescued" later. I hope you can find some people to play you, for I see your passion for the game. I always heard cosmo and the freak were pretty good as well as pac12ul.

I called UL stupid, because the rules are stupid: the rescue, the win of the attacking piece and the captain that can move 2 steps.
to me its a variant of the classic game, where the tactic is gone and added one good rule with the bombs..

Ros do you know what sarcasm is????? I guess not. When I said classic - it was intended to be funny and I thought you'd see the humor in that. Both of you don't really understand the strategy of the game that's why you mock the rescuing scheme. You incorporate the rescue into your gameplan. Anyway I won't waste anymore time talking about UL because you'll never play it.

rosbos just how old are you ? about 12 i'd guess judging by your one dimensional thinking ofcourse ul is a variant of classic DUH that has nothing to do with anything don't you think stratego was created from basics of chess for god's sake new games are created all the time just because people are reluctant ie YOU to try new things doen't mean as you say `are silly`.

Thank you Cos!!! I was starting to lose all hope and give up on recruting UL players. You are absolutely right to say what you did to Rosbos. The guy offers no explanation as to why he dislikes UL other than "oh caps moving two spaces is stupid". Well I guess that's his prerogative . Classic is the biggest luck game there is. Trading pieces off once you go up a major is pretty boring to me. You can't take risks and go in your opponents territory with a major piece. So you have to be content with attacking and retreating. Going in going out. BORING! I don't want to make a big deal out of this because people will not play UL just to spite me. The great UL players, cos and others from the defunct club, will return and I will see them and play them without hesistation.

Ros, the point of my post was not to make Gravon players play the wonderful, exciting, thrilling, suspenseful game that is UL I know you won't play it anyway. My point was for you guys to maybe open your minds a little and try something new even if you lose the first 15 games you play. When you first started playing classic you lost many times, right??? So how is UL different? Oh yeah I forgot, Captains moving two spaces is stupid.
