I have just got a new laptop with Windows 10 and now I can't log on to Gravon. I have downloaded the latest Java. I have followed the instructions (screenshots) placed on the site by Spion and allowed this to be downloaded but all it says is 'Do you want to keep gravon.jnlp'
It goes to downloads but I can't open it. I am doing something wrong, but I can't work out what it is.
I wonder if other players are having the same problem as there isn't nearly as many players here as there used to be.
Can anyone help. I can play on the Stratego.com site but I also like playing here.
Any ideas? _________________ I'm not super, and I'm no hero |

Sounds to me like maybe an anti-virus of some sort is preventing you from opening it. If you have one, try shutting it down or changing the settings.
What happens when you try to open it? Does it say anything or does nothing happen?
Also have you tried updating Java?
I've had a problem where I couldn't start Gravon because of the increased security measures by java. I could solve this by adding http://www.gravon.de to the exception list in the security tab of the java settings. |

Thanks for that Jens. I have the latest download of Java and I added gravon to the exceptions. It might be the firewall, or security or witchcraft, but I'll look at my settings. its says Gravon(1)jnlp do you want to keep this file.
I click yes and nothing happens. I can do it again and it will go to Gravon(2)jnlp and so on, but I can't get it to run. I'll run a level 4 diagnostic (like they do in Startrek- that always works) and see what happens. Robert _________________ I'm not super, and I'm no hero |

If it goes from (1) to (2) the gravon file is already on your computer. Have you going to the folder where you downloaded it to and double click it to open it? What happens when you double click it? |

When I double click it, it says do you want to save it. If I do that, it just opens another one and so on. It won't let me open Gravon. _________________ I'm not super, and I'm no hero |

Did you use gravon pro? Also did you follow the steps provided by Stratego in another topic about this? I am afraid this is a serious problem and maybe more players cant get acces to gravon... :/ |

Hi Ruben, Yeah I used Gravon Pro and followed all the instructions by Stratego. I followed all the screen shots but nothings happens.
I can't play here anymore.

I mean opening the actual file in Windows. It seems like you keep downloading the same file over and over again instead of opening it. |

Maybe Jens advice works.
I also see a lot of messages about this in the general forum (technische support).
What you can try is another browser. Firefox, internet edge, chrome etc. Also you can delete java and download an older version (altough this is not the best for computer security im afraid).
Hope it works! |

Ok Ruben thanks. I'll try another browser. I hadn't thought of that. I try it and then let you know so that we can play and you can kick my butt. _________________ I'm not super, and I'm no hero |

It didn't work. I tried in Edge but I got the same thing. It's probably a simple fix for someone who knows what they're doing, but I'm stuck now. If Spion or Stratego were here they could probably do it in seconds. _________________ I'm not super, and I'm no hero |

Last thing you can try is to delete java and download a former version. Otherwise an expert should help you. Maybe you know someone who lives close.... |

I struggled the past weeks also with opening gravon.
Today I got it back to work again following Dieters advice:
1st removing java entirely (with delete programms)
2nd download java with firefox
3th: Use firefox to start it and with gravon pro it suddenly works again . |

Newer versions of Java (8.xx) only allow for high and very high security settings (no medium settings anymore), so I had to add gravon (www.gravon.de) to the exception list in order to run it on the new version of Java.
