I would like all players in the tournament to be logged into Gravon at 12:00 PM EST (eastern standard time which is New York City time, I believe that this is 6:00 PM German time) for the first 4 Saturdays of the tournament. Everyone will then play 1 game against 2 different opponents that you are scheduled to play.(If you finish your first game before your second opponet is done, you simply wait for them to finish their first game) Everyone will play 2 games all 4 weeks, a total of 8 games. I am looking for players who are committed to playing at this time on Saturdays. In the past, I have set deadlines to play games and it has always created alot of problems. I chose this time to play so that it was early afternoon for American players and late afternoon for European players. I would like someone who speaks different languages to help me with the tournament, so that I can communicate with players who do not speak English.(I would like someone to volunteer very soon so that a post can be made to inform non-English speaking players about this tournament) If an emergency comes up where you can not play on a Saturday, you may try to schedule games against your 2 opponents prior to Saturday. You MUST be logged onto Gravon to play at least 3 of the 4 weeks. I hope that this better explains the time frame. Please use my other post for tournament registration and this post for any other questions.
Thank you and I hope for a large turnout in this tournament,
Marshal_Hal

Sorry Hal, Have to disagree with you on this one, main reason is that you have been away for awhile and many things have changed with in the Stratego World on line, when you were running the FOSP Tourney with Marshal_Dave, the majority of players were with the Zone, and soley with the Zedd Webb Message Board, Meta site was young and growing and as yu know it was "Us vrs Them" type of scenario...

You can not exspect the new players around today, to understand the Tourneys of yesteryear to be on parr with what you have suggested, Mate if you open this Tourney to all, you have to be more Flexible with World Time Differences..simple.

From my Memory from playin in the FOSP Tourney, I was allways led to belive that Sat 12.00pm EST of that week was the Deadline for completion of Games..am I wrong?

This Great Tourney in which yr self and Dave organize well, will simply be nothing more than a Fail, if you choose not to be flexible, sorry to say yr comments have come accross as a little dissapointing and some what unfair.

These are different times now Sir, please have another look on what you have proposed.

Cheers Jerry.

Hello my friend,
The tournaments Dave and I ran in the past had to have a week to complete because of the disconnections and that the game took up to 2 hours each. When games wouldn't get completed I had to decide who would be awarded the win. Behind the scenes this turned very ugly. You have no idea of the verbal abuse in e-mails I received from players who were awarded losses. Playing here at Gravon is MUCH quicker with few or no disconnections during games. In fact, probably more than half the games were played at the deadline.
The reason I moved to this new format of tournaments is because this is the way FOSP has run board game tournaments.
I think that you are the only one who would have a problem with this time of day to play games. I don't want to leave you out my friend, so I would like you to play in the tournament. For you I would definately make an exception and let you schedule your games during the week. You would not be required to be on Gravon at 12:00PM EST. I appologize for not remembering your time zone my friend.
I hope you will join the tournament my friend,
Marshal_Hal
