Everyone plays every other player in their group.
(best of 3 games.....if someone wins the first 2 games against their opponent......then a third game does not need to be played.
The Top player in each group will qualify for the final.
Typical stratego scoring system will be used
(6points for a win, 1 point for a loss and 3 points each for a drawn game)
This point system will be effective on the TOTAL score out of 3 games. (for example....somone winning 2-0 .....counts as a win and 6 points.....not 12)
Have fun! |

First result of the tournament:
A bit of a shock here!
Underground beats atillares 2-1
an easy win in the first game.
a mistake gave the 2nd game to atillares.
the third game was a tight game, but a win for Underground gives him the points. |

hey Ace, maybe you should call yourself Ace instead of Underground so it is more clearly that it is you . Especially because this is on the gravon forum.
My poule will be very difficult |

And about the 6-3-1 point score. Dont you need to play a third game, after 2 wins, so you can go for 18 point, or at least 13 when you play a last game? |

Hi Ruben
Yes, i can change to Ace....for this forum.....if it will help
The top 2 players in each group are strong!
Even I had trouble against the #2 seed in my group.
The bottom seed in each group are less strong......but 90% of the players in the tournament can play...... so don't think it will be easy. It is the European Qualifiers after all.
Lots of the players in the tournament can play good U.L.
I spoke to agresor only on Friday.......he declined my invitation to play. He said he didn't have much time at the moment....... although a few players have pointed out that, he regularly gets beat on Meta......he can only manage a ranking of around 10th place on there. JonnyBoy was extremely disapointed with his non participation......as JonnyBoy often beats him at Meta.
It is a shame, that agresor is not playing in the tournament...... as a true CURRENT ranking for U.L. players could be obtained for the old school players compared to the "New Wave" U.L. players.
The scoring system is Primary based on "MATCH" points, rather than game points. Game wins will be the deciding factor......ONLY if the "MATCH" points are equal between two or more players.
For example: a 2-0 win = a "MATCH" win = 6 points
a 2-1 win = a "MATCH" win = 6 points
This is the reason why ALL 3 games do not have to be played.......if the first 2 games finish 2-0......then the "MATCH" points are won. Players may play the third game.....if both agree(all games will add towards world rankings) but it is not compulsary.....and a 3-0 win would be treated the same as a 2-0 win.(with regards to this tournament)
The ONLY time a third game needs to be played......is if the score is either 1-1 after 2 games OR if there has been 1 or more drawn game, in the first 2 games.
The "Best of 3 games" are only a factor in the qualifying stages. (Introduced because the winner of the group is the only player from a group......that will reach the finals)
In the finals: the format will be every player plays every other player 1 time only
Hope this clarifies things for you!
