hi lightwing,
its a service from StraDeV and Gravon to get used with them.
the wc and the national championchips 06 will use the "old" pieces.

Hi stratego,
I know, but someone told me the new pieces would be introduced at 20 May, so i'm surprised to see the new pieces on gravon now.
And, after 2006 , we will never play again with the "old" pieces on tournaments, right? |

the official prerealise was the 10. may.
thats why we wait till now. if the date was scheduled to 20. may i didnt knew it. but in the end its not that important. the pieces are not that new.
i know them for months.

hi ricardo,
i could - the first of this new version (we had some other before) was shown in nürnberg at the beginning of the year. its a long way till a new game is completely designed.
i saw the first ideas last year at boxtel (august?)
then a lot of ideas were discussed till the latest version was ready.
and no - the officiall prerelease was planned for 10. may.
maybe utrecht should be the first tourney with the new pieces. but i think
it doesnt work.

it will not be used in utrecht yet and not even at the wc but here in netherland we will use it by the dutch championsship. but i thought it would be at 20 may cause wout gulden said it, and normally he knows when what go to happen he is the contactperson with jumbo but what you say can also be right

hi ricardo,
all members of sbn are always good informed about stratego topics, but believe me stradev people too. and most of the times its wise to talk about new infos when all is done. if i had posted the pieces we had first, we had a discussion for nothing, because they never come into print. same with the board and other things. also i didnt know, if jumbo follows my ideas with the female spy or the new version duell or the holder for the blinds or the new 2 square rule or.... so why talk about things in the dark. future features are always in progress, some come into effect some not. and i am not happy with everything of the new game, but its jumbo
decision, because they they pay the bill. i tried to help and ask a lot of players. the results are in the new game, as far as it was possible. in the end the new game is ok for me, with some much better and some worse things.
the dutch championchip was planed with the old pieces - would be a big surprise if they play with the new pieces. but this is sbn stuff - stradev will use the old one in 2006.

hmm lighty you know what wout gulden said it is because they won't to get more people who gonna buy and play it, the new design is the plan that people feel themself attrecked to the stratego.
i am not happy at all with the new design but maybe its fun for now, my opinion is that the old pieces were a bit boring but that can be cause we play long with them, but i don't like the new design there are awful and ugly.

hi lightwing,
i think its not my part to explain new ideas from jumbo, but its easy to
understand if you read between the lines.
the game is not for the "old" players. the goal is to find new players.
thats the reason why it is not that important if we like the new game.
new players dont know any historie or old pieces. beside that some negative
parts are solved. (larger blinds, holder for the blinds, serarate
piece box, better manual and for sure a much nicer board).
new pieces are always risky, some like them some not. i wanted much
larger pieces (factor 1,5-2) and other grafics, but i can live with the
result. next time...

Nice that we can practise (and take a look at) with the new pieces now!
I dont like the pieces very much but we all have to accept it. Its a big change I think.
For the blinds its nice of course, I only wish they did not chance the pictures.
I have no problems with a chance of Board and seperate piece boxes.
However we will see how it goes when we play with the new pieces. |

hmm what you mean stratego is to find in my post to i meant the new players but didn't know how to explain some things but now you did but i think jumbo is a bit selfisch they only think about there money they don't think how the old players will feel themself about the new design.

the the whole purpose of a business company is to earn money.
its not a bond like sbn or stradev.
