|
|
Why is it that my rating points change from day to day even if I haven't played any games? Two days ago, I was at 1313, yesterday 1312, and today 1311. I need all the points I can get, so please, if you are going to make ongoing changes to the ratings, have the points go the other way!
I know information about the Kleier system is linked on the site, but it reads like a master's thesis in computer science . . .
thanks. |

Hehe,
Your rating is linked to that of your opponents. Say you had only 2 (equally recent) games: 1 win to a 1400 and one loss to a 1600 your rating would be 1500.
If now the 1400 player would get better and get to 1500 your rating would be recaculated ás well and you would have 1450 without playing.
With more games played it all gets more complicated but the idea is the same, if your opponents generally improved your rating goes up, if they go down you go with them. |

Hi!
Kleiers system IS a master thesis
The reason for the points changing without having played is the following:
The rating you got is a relative measure of your playing strength. Relative means it shows you how strong you play compared to other players.
If those other players become better or worser, there strength will change, and if they were former opponents of you, your strength must be recalculated too.
My english is far to bad to expain this complicated thing... I will try to make an easy explanation in english somewhere on the web site, perhaps Hermann Kleier can help me with that..
Best regards
