I just finished a game with Brass. I am closing in on his flag, but he still has his gen, so he keeps endless checking two of my pieces to stall my advance. I either let him trap one, or I can't get to his bombs. After trying to talk to him he makes it clear that he intends to continue this tactic until I give in. I finally gave him a piece since I am pretty sure of the flag, but I could have lost the game if I was wrong.
I know the Gravon game can't currently enforce a multipiece check, and Brass's defense seemed to be that he could do whatever the game allows him to do, but this is very poor sportsmanship. |

Would you mind if I take this one, tableplay?
Ok, Darth. Apparently you have not been reading all of my posts. If you had been, you would be aware that Brass has not only evaded the authorities but has also refused my home grown electro shock therapy. He is an embittered escapee at large. He has never been able to absorb defeat and his latest behavior merely confirms that he is still at large and without therapy. God help us all if he is not institutionalized in the near future. Perhaps the only hope is to lure him to a stratego tournament. We can conjure up a bogus award to be given to him, before the tournament officially begins. Brass will be extremely excited about receiving an award and is sure to be present. Once he is on the pedestal we can drop an overhead net, capture him and put an end to his vacation. Brasnikos must be institutionalized and soon, beloved gravonians, for evidence suggests that he is about to blow.
Some gravonians have blamed me for his ailment due to a horrendous a$$ whipping that I gave him about 1 year ago. I cannot deny that it was a humiliating debacle which proved to be more than he could withstand. Yet, am I guilty for being as great as I am? Should I have exercised restraint during this blowout without being aware of his frail mental condition? Do I not deserve reprieval since I am willing to administer shock treatments in order to cure him of his woes? It is time for the gravon community to forgive me for Brass' present state of loonus complicatus escapus (scientific term for his condition). Life is cruel and there is a chore at hand. We will call this secret plan LCI (Lure, Capture, Institutionalize).

Well written as usual Sadistic. Darth I feel terrible that you finally experienced what Sadistic and myself have been commenting on over the past few months. I can only hope that a software upgrade comes out of this whole charade. Why Brasnikos won't voluntarily submit to your therapy Sadistic is beyond me. He could end the pain and bizarre behavior in an instant. But I suppose that part of his condition is that he thinks himself sane.
If any other Gravonions have had similar experiences feel free to chime in.
Back in the WSC days and early Gravon days, I thought that getting Wilcoed was the worst that could happen to a fellow, until I got Brasnikoed with deliberate slow play and profanities . . .
Cheers, tp |

Brass is not the only player to employ the double check tactics. The sooner it is sorted out the better. I have experianced this cowardly play this year and it is extremely annoying ......and against the rules i might add. |

The thing is, I wasn't completely sure if he understood it was wrong. If a solution can't be programmed into the game, then perhaps some rules or code of conduct could be created that players must understand and agree to before getting a registered account. Then if they do things like endless chasing or 20 minute moves, the games could be reviewed and the player punished. Well... the last part may be too much effort to put our administrators through when they already work for free, but I am sure an advocate of doing something to make sure everyone at least understands proper play.

You also make a point of avoiding competition in ranked games. |

Untrue. I only recently began playing ranked again and have not often turned down a high rated opponent in my career. I do do it from time to time, I must feel I am ready for the match, but a quick perusal of my gamelog shows I've played a healthy percentage of high raters (much healthier than you I might add). But why this matters to you at all tells you out: You relish in confrontation and have no courtesy towards others.
This thread isn't about you Sadistic. Why don't you go to one of your other threads and rant and leave this one alone? |

Darth, you are obviously a good player. However, I can't ever recall witnessing you playing a ranked game. As far as your criticism about me not playing the top players, I play everyone from the top to the bottom. Unlike some of the other highly ranked players, I do not care about losing to a much lower ranked player. In fact some days I just feel like wacking away and can lose many games. Who cares? I actually played Brass several games yesterday and he won most of them. He has become a hell of a player although I don't agree with what he did against you. My criticism toward you is that you have become "gun shy". You can deny it all you want but I am not the only member here who thinks this. Does anybody here think I am avoiding any players or ranked games? I don't think soooooo. |

Fortunately you don't have to witness anything, there is a game log that records everything and it shows clearly that I have played plenty of stiff competition.
If by "gun shy" you mean not playing ranked games when I am not in form, then you are right. But to call it that is idiodic and betrays you. Why play for a competitive ranking when you are not really competing? I went through a long period where I didn't play ranked at all, but only for fun. And why does that matter to you or anyone else? Certainly why does it merit your "criticism"? Your own logic shows you are just looking for a confrontation:
1) You criticize me for not playing high raters... but I have played a far higher percentage of them than you.
2) You say you play everyone from the bottom up... but the logs clearly show you are playing many more from the bottom.
3) And the big one: You don't care if you lose rated games? Well, fine. But then why are you even playing ranked games or concerned if others do or don't? A fun game is just that. But if I am playing for ranking or in a tourney I am playing to win. Always. Why play otherwise?
Why can't you come here and have fun and be courteous and respectful to the other people here? |

What ever Art is going on about courtesy is hard to practice...just a rubby duckie in the water lol.
I agree, this tactic should be stoped.
He's a nice guy!
Proper play is the issue, as unaware a player may be, and sportsmanship can be the issue.
Really, If their needs to be a change, it's only for the assholes playin here at Gravon, and most of them, we allready know.
Cheers Jerry. |

Darth, scroll up and read. You were the first one to insult me by saying that you make a point of not reading my posts. You did so in an insulting way but when I retaliated by mentioning the fact that you avoid competition, it has obviously hurt you deeply. The facts of life are what they are. Some are bold and some are cowardly, even effeminate. You choose your own place in life. Your statements about me seeking confrontation with you are inaccurate. You were the one to initiate it, not I. You have the right to do whatever you want and play whomever you want. I have the right to notice who is frightened out of their mind from a fun, silly game.
Artoro, it breaks my heart to see that you are drinking heavily again. May thoughts of my greatness provide you with the guidance necessary and give you the strength to abstain from such temptation. Please, Artoro, rely on me as your idol and role model during this trying time. I can't bear to witness someone with such potential and historic heroic feats, going down the drain like this.

not playing ranked games when you are not in form.
I think my rating was a little higher when I did not play when i was not in form and or tired. Maybe I must use this advice... |

No, just a simple acknowledgement that I don't spend time on the endless repetitive drivel you write. You act as if our relationship began with this thread.
Yes Ruben. Never play rated when you are not ready. It is one of the Laws of Stratego. Violate it at your peril. |
