After finally finding some time to take a look at the forum of my favourite stratego-site I've been starting to wonder if anything will ever change here.

I have to admit that I had some hope for the start of the new year,
but after I finished reading the new topics I can only say "same procedure as every bloody year"...

The show-offs are still acting like the show-offs trying to slag off other people, the lunatics are (still) pretty lunatic ,leaving unfinished games, or kicking the opponent out of his game to get a look at the setup, not to forget the very young but regular players who still seem to spend more time at gravon than at school complaing about trivial game details someone might think this is a "kindergarten".
I don't want to leave out the small (and probably decreasing) group of people who are playing fair and acting polite whether they're losing or not.

I am well aware that playing stratego and winning the game has a very particular importance for some people but please bear in mind, that it is still a game!

IMHO there is little point cluttering the mind with trivial details such as "hi admin, the opponent X left the room, so plz bann him for a lifetime, send his whole family to excile and behead his pet at a public place" or "opponent Y told me to f*ck off plz tell the mofo to f*ck off twice and stick a baseball bat in his bloody arse for using swear-words!"

Don't you all think this comes quite close to american talk-show with topics like "Need help- my horse is pregnant but my pig mustn't know!" ?!?

Nevertheless. following one of the recent topics I have to agree with ACE R. about being sportive and a gentlemen.
You can lose a game but you shouldn't lose your pride and whether you're 15 or 35 try to act like a adult and don't cling to game as if your live would end when you stop rotating pieces like a two-years-old playing memory...

So in which group I may belong?
You dearest Readers can of course count me in whereever you want to (multiple selections are possible, but most unwelcome ).
My wishes for this year are: less show-offs, less timewasters, less lunatics and more fairplay, perhaps impossible...

By the way, this post isn't meant to be a personal attack against anyone it's just an expression of my disapointment *sigh*.

Cheers (and happy new year everyone),
Rupert

I dont see it as a personal Attack Giovedi ( I think you mentioned me too) Everyone may have his opinion, and I like to read it if it is clearly and cleanly.

I like your post and I think some people should read it good and think about it.

Cheers for your replies and compliments,

I have to say that after reading some replies to my topic I couldn't help thinking if the key-statement might went unnoticed,
but perhaps it was simply too difficult to discover behind my english humor.

I am not going to mention any names because it might aswell be possible, that I just wasn't able to read between the lines...
...because I'm not quite familiar with the subtle narrative writing-style some of you blokes are using.
So I'm willing to take the blame and say
"thank you all for agreeing (more or less) and let's to put the money where the mouth is "

Cheers,
Rupert

p.s. @Ace: Next week I'll have less "familiy buisiness" and I'm looking forward to playing you again, if you like you!

I will look forward to playing you once more!

It is always welcoming to play against a true gent of the game.
