Fewer players in the rankings last year

I noticed there were fewer than 100 players in the final ranking list for 2012 - normally there's about 130. Is anyone concerned about this? Is there a decline in popularity of the game or was it just not enough people meeting the criteria to appear on the ranking list?

I see there are 18 players from 2011 ranked under 1300 who didn't make the 2012 list. It seemed like 2012 had tougher players from the top right down the list

Also samuel there were 30 players in 2011 who were not active enough to qualify for the 2012 new standards for ranking: 25 games per quarter or 100 games for the year. Thus the 2012 list is more streamlined with active players. This is a good thing I think. The all time list has 136 players
