Hi,

there was a little bug in the rating calculation which caused annual rankings to include some games from January of the next year. This bug has been resolved now and I have updated all older annual ratings. Additionally i re-added 2006 which was missing for unknown reasons...

So here they are:

ANNUAL CLASSIC STRATEGO RATINGS OF YEARS 2005 - 2009
Classic Stratego rating 2005
Classic Stratego rating 2006
Classic Stratego rating 2007
Classic Stratego rating 2008
Classic Stratego rating 2009

Have a lot of fun,
Thorsten

P.S.: 2005 to 2009 did NOT use the new challenge system.

In 2005 200 players made it to the yearly "endlist"
But the number of players decreased every year.
In 2009 the list was only 129 players long.... and thats a bad sign.

I personally play not much anymore but the Stratego fire will never die in my heart.

I hope the old school players like Leto, Playa1, Aeolus, Misiu, Esquire etc will make their return once.

hi wussy,

yes i agree, but maybe there is also another reason. we are better each year with double
and tripple nicks.

at the beginning a lot had several nicks and sometimes we need a little longer
to catch them.

but of course some stopped playing, i think for several reasons.

other hobbies - familie - job - to much losses... but for sure some will return, maybe not like
they did in "old days" but as you mentioned: the fire never dies.
and there is always time for a game from time to time.

but good to see, that the live tournyes still grow last time. a long way till we reach
the best years, but we are on the way.

I think its a game that the Chinese would be good at, perhaps it could somehow be promoted better to the Asian market?

Wow, that's an awesome walk down memory lane. Look at GB in 2006, a 1403 player to an over 1700 player now. What an improvement!

Hi everyone, a long time i didn't talk with you

I always added this site on my toolbar, i still love coming and play some games but not as the old time. Before it was more "serious" and now when i'm playing, i can't find this way to play as before :-/

There will always be stratego players, and i hope there will always be a website where we, all stratego lovers would come and play some interesting games.

When i look the today's ranking, i can see that a lot of "old" players have left this site or this game ...

I've tried it several times since I have a contact to the asian world, mainly to China. Your idea is very good and I had already thought of it. But the people there are workaholics and do not play like the people in the west

thx and much fun

I understand that, however I lived in China for a year and I know that a lot of young people/students spend hours and hours playing online games, even through the night you go to a net bar and its full of people playing games until the sun comes up. I dont know how these people find time to sleep and then work/study. Perhaps they are not all workaholics? Also many young people spend hours every day playing sport, which is a bit different but shows they do have some free time.

Chinese people are generally very good at puzzles and maths and things like that too, so there could be a tie-in with Stratego from that side of things that would suit them too.
