Cyril and I were thinking of starting up a USA Stratego Federation. How many would actually want to become a member. We have not worked out all the details, but would like to start having tournaments in the USA. I have talked to some European players and they said they would be interested in traveling here to play in the tourneys. At this time we have not yet contacted the ISF or MetaForge but soon will to see what the interest is.

Anyway, in name of ISF I can say we would very much welcome a North American Stratego Federation.
With so many American players it's a shame there are no tournaments in your region.
This idea has already several times come up, but never really got shape because there was nobody risking to really start it... I guess this is what you need, a couple of enthousiastic people who will just try...
This way it started in the Netherlands over 10 years ago. Now with internet and maybe our experience I think it must be possible in US too...

One of the problems with getting a North American Stratego Federation together is the size of the country and wide distribution of players. There really aren't that many Stratego players in the US (or Canada) compared to how big the two countries are, and I think it would be difficult to gather a sizable group of players without most of them having to travel a great distance. On the internet we look like a big group, but if I wanted to go play Hemihead face-to-face, for example, it would be a six hour flight to California. From here in Boston, it's actually quicker to fly to London, or even Frankfurt. Also, unlike Europe, there is very limited public transportation in the USA, making it even more difficult to bring people together.

We tried once to gather all the New England area players from the old WSC together, but that fell apart when we couldn't get enough people to truly commit to it. Several of the people who were in on that discussion: Hal and Dave, jon_lynfo, aren't around any more.

If a few people in different parts of the country wanted to take this on, I think you would have a chance by concentrating on forming smaller groups in different parts of the country. It would require one person in each area to contact all the players, set a date, reserve a place to play, etc. This would also require a financial outlay with no guarantee that any of the money would be recovered, which is probably the biggest stumbling block.

But, hey, if the Americans can do it, then Australia will have to get it together, too. Of course, that would probably just end up being Jerry playing with . . . . himself, and I don't think anyone wants to see that!

Let's rent an old bus and drive around North America (er USA and the Great White North) and we'll pick Gravoners up at their doorstep and have a tourney right on the bus. It will be a great vacation and fun for all, and I hear Canada is known for its scenery. Anyone with 2 - 3 weeks to spare? Maybe Ricky Williams would join, now that he has free time.

Otherwise, let's just all meet in the Windy City or Detroit

Yes Sadistic sadly I know of the crap that goes on at Meta. I know for a fact that Drip Drip, I have the clap, Drop is either Commish, buttwheat, or chip himself. They ALL cheat over there. I know exactly what happened to you. If you don't think like them or act like them they give you the boot even when you friggin PAY for use of their subpar website. Sadistic, you have to agree with me, this site is superior. Its got everything you want.
