Im sure we've all had this - where you get a good piece of your opponents cornered and he moves left and right but your in line with him, so after 5 goes he is stuck.

But elsewhere on the board, he's just noticed he has you in the same position, and starts playing the same game. So what happens? You endlessly move both pieces back and forth with no one wanting to give in this mini-battle. Sometimes it can go on for ages before someone gets fed up and gives up their piece.

I hate when this happens, but it seems to be as if there should be a way to stop it - i.e. you can't just keep flicking between moving the same 2 pieces back and forth up to 5 times, breaking the 5 move rule each time you switch. It should freeze both of them after so many goes.

Thoughts?

You entered the advanced facts about the square rule.

1. When you attack a pieces and this piece can only move between 2 fields and that piece begins. 2. And another piece from you elsewhere is attacked the same way, but in contrary your oponent began this attack.

When your oponent doesnt stop changing from running in situation 1. and attacking in situation 2, you have to choose: You can offer a draw, if the oponent doesnt want a draw, he is forced to give you the piece (he has to stop running & attacking.)

Or you can stop attacking his piece, and play further. Maybe in a later stadium he walks away from your piece and you can pick it nevertheless.

Btw, there are more of these difficult situations. We are lucky Gravon has them all in his system, so we dont have to worry about it so much. (while you cant do illegal moves)
